Warren Mayor James Fouts has directed that Warren City Hall be lit up gold, teal and purple from dusk tonight, Monday, September 14, until dawn tomorrow, Tuesday, September 15 to bring public attention to Childhood Cancer (Gold) and Suicide Prevention (Teal/Purple).

Living with cancer is a reality faced by thousands of children all over the U.S.  Childhood Cancer Awareness Month reminds us that this is an ever growing epidemic, and that with the combined efforts of us all, there is something that can be done to prevent this horrible disease.

Each year, more than 41,000 individuals die by suicide, leaving behind their friends and family members to navigate the tragedy of loss.  In many cases, friends and families affected by a suicide loss (often called “suicide loss survivors”) are left in the dark. This month is raise awareness and give support to those affected by suicide, and to connect individuals with suicidal treatment services.

The national suicide prevention hotline is 800-273-8255.
