WARREN MAYOR JIM FOUTS URGES MACOMB COUNTY ROAD COMMISSION TO KEEP TRAFFIC LIGHT AT MOUND ROAD AND ARDEN AVENUE

Warren Mayor James Fouts Urges Macomb County Road Commission to Keep Traffic Light at Mound Road and Arden Avenue

Traffic Signal is Vital to Protect St. Anne Neighborhood and Pedestrian Traffic Across Mound Road

Warren, MI – Today, Warren Mayor Fouts informed the Macomb County Road Commission of my strong opposition to their proposal to remove the traffic light at Mound Road and Arden Avenue.  Mayor Fouts sent a letter to the Road Commission stating that the removal of this light would negatively impact the residents of the St. Anne subdivision, children attending the St. Anne School, parishioners at St. Anne Church, and people who live east of Mound Road who wish to take advantage of the Warren Community Center.

Mayor Fouts fully understands the desire of the Macomb County Road Commission to improve traffic flow along Mound Road, but the needs and safety of residents must come first.  Mayor Fouts  urges the Road Commission to abandon this plan and find other ways to improve traffic flow that doesn’t put the safety of residents at risk such as better timing of the traffic signals. The danger this poses without a traffic light would be like children crossing an expressway with speeds in excess of 50 MPH, this is a disaster waiting to happen.  The Mayor will continue to fight this effort on behalf of the residents.
