84 Warren Church Leaders Sign up for Meeting To Prevent Mass Shooting
Eighty-four leaders from churches in Warren have signed up to attend a special informational meeting by police to prevent mass shootings.
Sponsored by Mayor Jim Fouts and Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer, the meeting will be held Wednesday, November 29 at 1 p.m. in the first floor conference room in city hall.
Fouts said the meeting is in response to the November 5 mass shooting at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas.
“We want church leaders to be alert for any threat or potential violent behavior that could lead to another mass shooting,” said Fouts.
Dwyer said police will make specific recommendations that church leaders can implement to avoid violence. “Our police will provide a questionnaire as the basis for a tailored response plan for each church,” said Dwyer.
