The City of Warren is excited to announce the graduation of the first participating class of the Citizens Police Academy! The graduation will took place on April 23rd at 4:00pm at Warren City Hall.
The 38 citizens who enrolled got their certificate of completion after an 8-week program. Some of the topics taught at the Citizens Academy were: arrests, searches, 911 calls, evidence handling, and active shooter-current events. The participants also learned about general court functions and trials from one of our 37th District Court Judges.
Officers who facilitated the instructing of this program really enjoyed sharing knowledge with the participants. Whenever officers get the opportunity to interact with our citizens to help them better understand the operations of the police department, we all walk out ahead.
There are not many opportunities to have this type of interaction, and the City of Warren is proud of the number of residents who continually take an active role in supporting this great city.
